چکیده

The assessment of the air quality is a major concern to current time. monitoring and maintenance necessarily pass by detecting estimating overall pollution. use lichens must be an assessmenttool studied. In our work we were interested about toxicity lead on various parameters stress in lichen Xanthoria parietina. For this purpose, thalli have been incubated at concentrations 0, 0.5, 1.0, 5.0 10.0 mM, for time scale 24, 48 96 hours. obtained results showed that has action studied parameters, intensity oxidative observed depends concentration, exposure. Lead induced decrease chlorophyll protein contents, increase contents catalase, hydrogen peroxide reduced glutathione. Furthermore, also high caused total destruction

The bromoperoxidase from the lichen Xanthoria parietina is a novel vanadium enzyme.

A novel bromoperoxidase was isolated from the lichen Xanthoria parietina. The enzyme contained vanadium, which is essential for enzymic activity. Under denaturating conditions the preparation showed a single protein band with an Mr of 65,000. Thermal-denaturation studies showed that this bromoperoxidase could tolerate high temperatures. The affinity of the enzyme for its substrate bromide is hi...

Purification and Characterization of Two Isolectins with Arginase Activity from the Lichen Xanthoria parietina

Two glycoproteins were purified and biochemically characterized from the lichen X. parietina. Both behaved as enzymes with arginase activity and haemaglutinins. Secreted arginase (SA) contained galactose and glucose in the saccharide moiety and an isoelectric point of 4.54. The algal binding-protein (ABP) had N-acetyl-glucosamine and glucose as glycosidic residues and an isoelectric point of 3....

Antiproliferative, Antibacterial and Antifungal Activity of the Lichen Xanthoria parietina and Its Secondary Metabolite Parietin

Lichens are valuable natural resources used for centuries throughout the world as medicine, food, fodder, perfume, spices and dyes, as well as for other miscellaneous purposes. This study investigates the antiproliferative, antibacterial and antifungal activity of the acetone extract of the lichen Xanthoria parietina (Linnaeus) Theodor Fries and its major secondary metabolite, parietin. The ext...

Nitrogen and carbon isotope variability in the green-algal lichen Xanthoria parietina and their implications on mycobiont–photobiont interactions

Stable isotope patterns in lichens are known to vary largely, but effects of substrate on carbon and nitrogen stable isotope signatures of lichens were previously not investigated systematically. N and C contents and stable isotope (δ(15)N, δ(13)C) patterns have been measured in 92 lichen specimens of Xanthoria parietina from southern Bavaria growing on different substrates (bark and stone). Ph...
